Lake Nkugute.
This lake is popularly known among travelers for its shape looking exactly like the map of Africa. The lake however had always been a curse and a blessing to the surrounding community as it is said to have swallowed a male and female child each year though people still used it as a water source.
The lake was surrounded by small forest which was cut during the construct of the Kasese-Mbarara high way. A lot of murram was also laid on the shores of the lake making it visible from a distance. The other part of the forest was encroached by the people doing cultivation and presently the lake is surrounded by tilled land, pine& mahogany trees as well as banana plantations.
