Located in Gulu district, the spot is historical for slave trade. it was constructed by Sir Samuel Baker as a military base to aid stop slave trade in the northern region of Uganda. Its located close by Ocecu hill that had was home to the Egyptian Arabs who conducted slave trade, surrounded by a very wide and deep trench which could not allow slaves escape. Several slaves who could not walk u to Egypt the main slave Centre were beheaded here and dark marks believed to be blood splatters of slaves are still visible on the rocks. However, the natural and attractive scenery of the Fort erases its unpleasant background and offers a chance to feel part of its history.
